History The first Badger Mining Adventure Day was held in 2002. Over the years the most popular activity for our young visitors is taking guided control of a large piece of operating equipment, such as a dozer or backhoe. The day has grown to include many activities including fishing, train rides, souvenir pictures, pit tours, a ski show, and an attempt to build the world’s largest sandcastle. Our first Adventure Day was held at our Fairwater, WI plant in 2002 with 1,500 people attending. In 2003 the event was moved to our Taylor, WI plant and over 2,300 people attended. The next two Adventure Days, 2004 and 2006, were held at Fairwater with 1,800 people in 2004 and 2,000 people in 2006. In 2007 we had a turn out of over 2,200 at our Taylor Plant. Badger Mining has watched this event grow each year and its success can be measured by the smiles of the many visitors. Family comments such as “great family, wholesome entertainment” and “Mom I had more fun at Adventure Day than at Disneyworld”…thus prompting her mother to reply “Then I could have saved over $6,000!” let us know we are giving back to our community. Adventure Day would not be successful without the 150+ volunteers who give up their time for others and the many sponsors who give support in various ways to this event. Badger Mining invites you and your family to come and spend some time playing and learning at Adventure Day. |

Badger Mining searched for a way to give back to our neighbors and local communities. It was decided the best way to give back was to invite the public in and educate them on the importance of industrial sand in everyday use – and to make it fun! To do this we created educational activities, demonstrations and games designed around our production plants and called it Adventure Day.
